Project Manager, Professional Surveyor and Mapper

Job Description

We are seeking a Professional Surveyor and Mapper with 5+ years of professional experience to join our Florida Survey Division.

This position will support on-going and future Survey and Mapping services for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and other agencies. The successful candidate will lead survey and mapping teams and deliveries for our valued clients. Experience with FDOT policies and procedures is preferred. This position is for our Bartow, Florida office. This position will require project management on a wide range of projects including FDOT Design Surveys, Topographic Surveys, and Boundary Surveying for numerous private and public sector clients.


Objectives of this Role:
  • Compile and research existing data for projects as needed to efficiently complete survey requirements.
  • Coordinate and assist in preparing project estimates and schedules.
  • Analyze deeds, title reports, and other research materials for the production of survey maps and reports.
  • Effective coordination and communication with other team members.
  • Write and review legal descriptions.
  • Complete assignments in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Make surveying decisions and document the same in survey reports.
  • Prepare or direct preparation of client deliverables.
  • Ensure the QC process has been completed prior to survey product submission.
  • Responsible for technical performance on small projects and/or designated tasks on large projects.
  • Guides, mentors and directs survey analysts and technicians in the completion of their assignments.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Must be licensed PSM in Florida.
  • FDOT experience is a plus but not required.
  • Minimum 5 years of responsible charge for preparing boundary, topographic, site, utility, and construction survey documents/drawings, and legal descriptions.
  • Civil 3D experience is required.
  • Microstation and OpenRoads skills are a plus but not required.
  • Computer skills should include survey processing software capabilities.
  • Good communication skills and ability to lead and coordinate with survey crews and survey technicians.
  • Able to successfully lead a project team on projects of all sizes and levels of complexity. Ensure that all aspects of the project are followed through to completion which includes client meetings, project team communication, and monitoring budgets and progress.
  • Requires a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle record.

Transportation Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a Transportation Engineer to expand our team and take our engineering capabilities to the next level. In this role, you will join our Transportation Division and work alongside our Senior Transportation Planner and roadway engineers to conduct travel demand forecasting, traffic operations analysis/level of service analysis, traffic signal warrant studies, Intersection Control Evaluations, crash data analysis/safety analysis, Traffic Impact Study reviews and prepare technical reports. Our ideal candidate is a leader, who is self-motivated and passionate about producing high quality products for our clients.

This position requires background knowledge and skills in the PD&E Studies of state and local agency projects. A background in Florida DOT policies and procedures is preferred. This position's preferred location is in our Tampa or Orlando offices, however, flexible schedules including remote work are available.


Objectives of this Role:
  • Promote an all-inclusive approach to working in a team environment
  • Communicate (verbally and in writing) daily with team members, sub-consultants and clients
  • Develop traffic projections through the use of travel demand forecasting models
  • Conduct traffic operations analyses to determine levels of service and identify needed capacity improvements
  • Summarize and analyze historic crash data and conduct safety analyses
  • Prepare Project Traffic Analysis Reports, Travel Demand Forecasting Technical Memorandums, and Corridor Feasibility Study Reports
  • Meet with clients and governmental agencies
  • Assist with the preparation and editing of NEPA documentation in support of transportation projects
  • Assist in marketing pursuits
Skills and Qualifications:
  • B.S. degree or higher in Civil Engineering from an accredited university with an emphasis in Transportation
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification
  • 6 years of Transportation Engineering experience (minimum)
  • Strong technical writing skills and document production capabilities
  • Experience with using traffic analysis software, including the Highway Capacity Manual Software (HCS), SYNCHRO/SimTraffic, SIDRA, and/or VISSIM
  • Experience conducting and/or reviewing Traffic Impact Studies
  • Experience using the Highway Safety Manual (HSM) to conduct future year safety analyses
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including development of reports
  • Working knowledge of travel demand forecasting including the ability to code/edit highway networks and run travel demand modeling software to obtain future year traffic projections.
  • Experience conducting Intersection Control Evaluation (ICE) analyses for FDOT projects (i.e., PD&E studies and/or Final Design projects)

Senior Project Engineer / Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Professional Engineer (PE) with 5+ years of professional experience to assist with various public-sector civil engineering design projects for clients, including counties, cities, FDOT, and other agencies & municipalities.

Our ideal candidate has advanced proficiency in utility-related design (potable water and sanitary sewer collection and distribution) and can facilitate the pursuit of utility work by utilizing existing client relationships with local agencies and municipalities. AIM's Civil Engineering services vary from public infrastructure, water resource & stormwater management, hydrologic & ecosystem restoration, construction phase services, and general engineering administration. This position's preferred location is in our Fort Myers corporate office, which houses our Civil Engineering staff.


Objectives of this Role:
  • Provide diverse production engineering design expertise for various civil engineering projects and technical reports.
  • Conducts meetings with clients, contractors, and review agency personnel to maintain professional relationships.
  • Ability to track and complete project tasks on schedule and within budget.
  • Perform internal Quality Control to ensure designs, plans, and calculations are complete and accurate.
  • The ideal candidate can demonstrate advanced proficiency in utility design (water, sewer, and small pump station collection/distribution).
  • Ability to direct, train, and mentor junior staff through reviewing and certifying projects or the work of others.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Florida and 5+ years of post-licensing PE experience in the field of civil engineering.

CEI Senior Inspector

Job Description

This is a supervisory-level CEI field position that works under the supervision of a Project Administrator, receives general instructions regarding assignments, and is expected to exercise initiative and independent judgment in solving work problems. This position entails mainly fieldwork with some inside office work within Collier/Lee/Charlotte/Hendry/Glades Counties.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Makes and checks computations required for CEI inspection/documentation of construction work.
  • Inspects construction work for adherence to Construction Plans and Specifications.
  • Experienced in asphalt paving, concrete placement, and earthwork. Conducts/supervises field materials & testing.
  • Coordinates and manages lower-level inspectors.
  • Coordinate with Contractor field personnel during progression of construction work.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

  • Proficient in reading and understanding construction plans and specifications.
